Ari Green is a Ph.D. student in the Public History program at NC State University. Ari’s scholarly interests include historic preservation and how it intersects with community engagement, displacement in Black communities, and gentrification.
A Sacramento, California native, Ari graduated from California State University, Sacramento with her BA in History. After a two-year gap, Ari pursued her MA in Public History where she examined the role of local policy, the development of sports stadiums, and their effects on Black communities in Sacramento using spatial analysis.
Currently, Ari serves as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Center for Family and Community Engagement. At the center, she continues to engage with Black communities in Southeast Raleigh by developing innovative ways to preserve and memorialize their histories using spatial analysis and other digital tools.
Ideally, Ari would love to work for a local government agency whether it be a housing authority, city planning department, or historic preservation department that would allow her to continue to engage with communities and utilize GIS.
